Science Team

E-mail Print PDF

The Science Team is composed by all the scientists that (not only) in Europe are interested to contribute to the ET design study and to the 3rd generation GW observatory science. It is composed mainly by scientists belonging to the eight beneficiaries, but it is freely open to the scientists that, in the World, want to collaborate to the ET project. This is permitted by the, almost, centralized budget management that permits EGO to support newcomers willing to effectively collaborate. The growth quickly reached the large number of 220 scientists (Oct 009) subscribed to the ET-Science Team mailing list.

The distribution of these members is reported in the following figures with about a 20% of members not belonging to any beneficiary.

The ELiTES proposal has been invited by the European Commission to the negotiation phase.

Eight institutes, participating to the ET science team, under the coordination of EGO,have presented at the beginning of 2011 a FP7 proposal titled: "ET-LCGT Interferometric Telescopes Exchange of Scientists" (ELiTES). It has been submitted under the International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) programme and it consists in a four years scientists exchange programme between Europe and Japan, focused on cryogenic technology issues for LCGT and ET. The proposal has been evaluated positively by EU and invited to the negotiation phase.
